What's Coming

We're launching a Kickstarter to build a small commercial roastery — the workspace, equipment, permits, and systems needed to roast coffee the right way.

Most Coffee Is Already Stale

Most coffee is roasted weeks — sometimes months — before you drink it.

By then, the flavor is already gone. What's left is flat, bitter, and forgettable.

Oak Bridge Roastery fixes that.

We roast in small batches and package right after roasting — so what you taste is bold, smooth, and actually fresh.

clean, balanced cups—not the kind where the bag has more flavor than the coffee.

Why Oak Bridge

From Popcorn Popper to Real Roaster

I started with a tiny popcorn popper that could only roast about ⅓ cup at a time. At first, it just burned beans into little black nothings. So I used my engineering background to modify it, adding heat and airflow control. That's how I roasted my first real batch — the one that earned the first "this is the best coffee I've ever had."

Eventually, that little popper gave up. After a lot of use (and abuse), it finally stopped heating.

So I took the next step.

I invested in a FreshRoast SR800 with extension tube, a small but serious home roaster that gives me real control and consistency. It's what I'm using now to continue dialing in profiles, testing coffees, and sharing small batches while I prepare for the commercial roastery.

This Kickstarter is the next step — moving from a home roaster to a dedicated micro-roastery built around the same care and attention.

No Shortcuts

Every batch gets the time and attention it deserves.

Quality Materials

We don't cheap out on materials or process.

Treat People Right

At the core of everything we do.

Tech Assists, Not Drives

Technology supports the craft, it doesn't replace it.

Coffees at Launch

A carefully selected single-origin coffee to start your journey.

Nicaragua Caturra

Washed Process

Balanced and approachable with notes of chocolate, caramel, and citrus.

Whole bean or ground

Available in 12 oz bags

Roast Philosophy

We don't roast coffee to the point where everything tastes the same. We roast for balance — bold and rich without burning away what makes the bean special. Because coffee should taste like more than charcoal.

Transparency note: We will make every effort to source Nicaragua Caturra, but may substitute a comparable single-origin coffee of equal or higher quality if availability changes.

Roasted With Intent — Not Mass Produced

Every batch is monitored, controlled, and finished by hand. We roast for flavor — not volume.

Tight Control

Precise control over roast development from start to finish.

Small Batch Consistency

Every batch gets the same attention — no shortcuts, no rushing.

No Warehouse Storage

Roasted fresh, not sitting in a distribution center for weeks.

The Road Ahead

Kickstarter Launch

Campaign goes live to fund the roastery build-out.

Roaster Procurement

Source and order commercial roasting equipment.

Permitting & Setup

Complete permits, safety systems, and workspace build-out.

Test Roasts

Dial in profiles and ensure quality meets our standards.

Fulfill Rewards

Roast, pack, and ship to backers.

Estimated 3-4 weeks for fulfillment while working a day job.

About Me

By day, I work as a systems engineer and manager for a nationwide non-profit, building and supporting software and hardware systems used in the field. I've always been a maker. I like understanding how things work, fixing them, and building something that didn't exist before. I also love cooking, and coffee roasting ended up being a perfect mix of all of that.

What pulled me in was the science behind it — heat, time, chemistry, and a little bit of instinct. You can follow numbers all day, but at some point you have to trust your senses and make the call.

Doing things right matters to me. That means not cutting corners, not using cheap materials just to save a few dollars, and not rushing something that deserves care. I'd rather make less and be proud of it than make more and question it.

The best part for me is seeing someone enjoy a cup of coffee I roasted. Watching that first sip and seeing them realize it tastes different never gets old.

Most people are surprised to learn that I'm a total nerd. I love science, engineering, and anything sci-fi or fantasy. That curiosity is what keeps me experimenting and trying to improve with every batch.

At the core of everything I do is a simple value: treat people right.

If this business is still here in three years, I'll consider that a win. In the long run, I hope to build something that lasts — a small business that can grow, support meaningful work, provide jobs for the community, and be something I can rely on for years to come.

Thank you for being part of the beginning.

Be There From the Beginning

"Plank Owner"

A naval term for someone who was there at the very beginning.

That's what early supporters are.

Frequently Asked Questions

We offer both! You can choose whole bean for maximum freshness and flavor, or select your preferred grind size at checkout. We recommend whole bean if you have a grinder at home — grinding just before brewing makes a noticeable difference.

Every bag is roasted to order in small batches. Your coffee will be roasted within days of shipping, ensuring peak freshness when it arrives at your door. We include the roast date on every bag.

We ship across the continental United States. Shipping details and any restrictions will be clarified during the Kickstarter campaign.

Building a commercial roastery requires significant upfront investment in equipment, permits, safety systems, and workspace build-out. Kickstarter allows us to fund this build-out while building a community of early supporters who believe in what we're doing. Your backing directly supports the launch of this small business.

Coffee is an agricultural product, and availability can change with harvest seasons and supply. If we can't source our planned coffee, we'll substitute with a comparable single-origin of equal or higher quality. We'll always be transparent about what you're getting and why.
